So Sylux is basically the Reverse Flash of Metroid: No grandiose ambitions, just running on pure hatred and spite.

So many people are coming to conclusions based on little information.

What did this dummy think, that even if his squad was able to take the Space Pirates' weapon, he was going to get to keep it? That the Galactic Federation would let him keep a superweapon the size of a building in his garage, to use whenever he wanted? This scene doesn't just retroactively make Sylux petty as shit, it also makes him a moron.

Ngl I kinda wanted his motivation to be something that would paint samus was the personal instigator of the actual rivalry but hey i'm okay with sylux being a greedy loser too.

Wow this makes Sylux a perfect foil for Samus. Samus is constantly receiving willing sacrifices from others to continue to live. Samus didn't want her parents to die, Samus didn't want the baby to die, she didn't want Adam to die. This fits with the 2D series and the zero mission Manga.
