I've been thinking this exact thing for ages! Hell, if Locke's Halo 5 story had been a spin off ME style game, it could have had time to develop his character and that of Osiris, and the mystery surrounding Chief's desertion and Cortana's return/the guardians. Then Halo 5 could have been a purely chief focused story.

Outside of a Mass Effect/Halo crossover game/series, a Halo RPG is something I've always wanted. Honestly, I'd go full Fall of Reach with the prologue, then open the world up to the player.

Halo dose have really good lore and it's universe has incredible flesh out world building for a fps game

Halo Reach has ALWAYS been my favorite in the series. It gave a broader view of the conflict outsider of Master Chief's story.
