Got this playing on the tv so I'll have to rewatch and pay more attention but I noticed the doors/light blocker things and I did the same but used very thin wood that I cut to size. It helped soo much with filming ect but I got annoyed having to open them every time I wanted/needed to get into the tanks. I think they'd be great for plant growth as it sends more light to the tank especially if you glued tinfoil to the back/inside.
