Professor Buzzkill is an exciting weekly blog & podcast that explores history myths in an illuminating, entertaining, and humorous way. Professor Buzzkill sometimes goes by the alias Joseph Coohill, a historian of modern Britain and Ireland. While studying for his doctorate in modern history at Oxford, Coohill hosted The History Show on Oxford Student radio, which had the memorable tagline, “listen to doctoral students talk about dead people.”

Professor Buzzkill examines, evaluates, and explodes myths such as: J. Edgar Hoover as a cross-dresser; drinking levels during prohibition; repressed and uptight Victorians; Seneca Falls as the origin of the Women’s Rights Movement; soccer being historically unpopular in the United States; Mussolini making the trains run on time; and many, many more!
