He has fused Afro-Cuban traditions, jazz, classical music, and rock into a unique style, earning seven GRAMMY® and six Latin GRAMMY® Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award. Valdés founded the iconic band Irakere, revolutionizing Latin jazz with its bold fusion of genres.
