Sơn Ca, whose real name is Nguyễn Thị Tuyết Nga, was born in 1953 and is a renowned Vietnamese female singer who rose to fame in Saigon before 1975. She was affectionately known as "Cô Thắm" by her fans at that time. She and singer Họa Mi were both students of the famous composer Hoàng Thi Thơ. Sơn Ca's name is closely associated with the compositions of Hoàng Thi Thơ, and she is also famous for her duets with singer Bùi Thiện.
From 1984 to 1990, she released a series of albums titled "Tiếng hát Sơn Ca hải ngoại" (Sơn Ca's Overseas Singing) produced by Thanh Lan music company, featuring not only Sơn Ca's vocals, but also many other singers who had immigrated abroad after 1975. During that time, she also toured and performed in many places.
