The Palatinate Forest is my second living room, so I don't want to withhold this beauty from you! Species-rich mixed forests, sunny meadow valleys, mighty rock towers and legendary castle ruins make the largest contiguous forest area in Germany unique. Because of its special role model character, UNESCO recognized the Palatinate Forest as a biosphere reserve in 1992. Since 1998, together with its French partner, the Northern Vosges Nature Park, it has been the only cross-border biosphere reserve in Germany.
