Grave Raven is the creative engine of Chicago-based guitarist, songwriter, and lyricist John Sherman. Grave Raven fuses cinematic hard rock with dark, gothic-leaning textures, tailored for film, television, and visual media. Developed under the direct mentorship of Craig Goldy (Dio), John’s technical pedigree was forged at Clutch Sound (the legendary facility formerly Smart Studios, founded by Butch Vig—birthplace of Nirvana’s Nevermind and Smashing Pumpkins’ Gish), and later brought to life through 24-bit masters by Colin Jordan at The Boiler Room.
​The catalog includes "song stings" for the UK series Cloak and Dagger, vetted by producer John Ravenhall (Paul McCartney, Sting), and has been considered by multi-platinum powerhouse "The Pretty Reckless" for licensing deals. The project also featured sessions with elite vocalists like Mary Zimmer (Luna Mortis, White Empress) and Gwen Bartolini (The Heartbreakerz). Grave Raven is currently open for business
