Description

The Carl Laemmle Institut (CLI) complements the educational function of Filmakademie. In collaboration with partners in Germany and abroad, the department engages in research projects, developing technological innovations for the film and media world.
One major focus is the development of technologies that serve as the basis for ecologically sustainable productions at Filmakademie and beyond. Extended reality (XR) is a key technology in this context.
Artificial intelligence also has a strong influence on the creative processes of the film and media industry. It represent major opportunities and challenges. The focus of AI developments within the CLI is on the fair and traceable use of AI systems that support artists, but do not replace them.
The majority of the tools and software developed are available to all interested parties as Open-Source. In addition to Open-Access publications, extensive data collections are available to the entire creative industry under Creative Commons.
