From being an accomplished graffiti artist at 12, to joining hip hop royalty Joe Flizzow under Kartel Records, SonaOne’s sheer will and talent as a rapper, writer and producer has brought him on a rising trajectory to the stars. He’s reached new heights by becoming one of the most prominent signings of newly formed regional hip hop power house, Def Jam South East Asia. SonaOne’s achievements are as diverse as they are many. He was the first to have a hip hop song win the prestigious songwriting competition, Anugerah Juara Lagu 29 (AJL29), with the song “Apa Khabar” (a Joe Flizzow song produced by and featuring SonaOne).

With that as a launchpad, his debut album Growing Up Sucks soared to the top of the local charts in 2016, whose third single “Firefly” won the Best English Song at AIM22, making it a consecutive win for SonaOne in the same category. 2018 saw SonaOne collaborating with fellow Def Jam hitmaker, ALIF, on one of the year’s critically acclaimed and commercially successful.
