Detroit Terminal Railroad
Description
This HO scale layout represents Detroit-area rail operations, with a focus on the automotive industry.

Conrail’s North Yard serves as the primary classification and distribution hub, handling traffic for major industries along the Conner Industrial Corridor, including the Chrysler Jefferson Assembly Plant, the Chrysler Mack Avenue Engine Plant, and the Detroit Edison Conners Creek Power Plant.

Conrail’s Belt Line Extension functions as the principal urban switching and transfer route through the city. Road-switcher crews handle mixed consists between North Yard, on-line industries, and interchange points under dense urban conditions and tight trackage constraints.

The GTW Shore Line Subdivision represents a mainline connection between Detroit and Toledo, forming a key north–south freight corridor in southeast Michigan and northwest Ohio. It carries through manifests and mixed freights between Conrail and the Grand Trunk Western Railroad’s yards and interchange points.
