Description
John McLaughlin Williams is a Grammy-winning conductor and violinist, and is the first African-American orchestral conductor to be awarded a Grammy. He is noted for his appearances with such orchestras as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Classic FM Orchestra (Bulgaria), Chicago Sinfonietta and others, his recordings appear on the Naxos, Toccata, TNC, Artek, Cambria, and Sono Luminus labels. Williams has also received Grammy nominations for further recordings, including Eliesha Nelson's Complete Viola Works of Quincy Porter, a unique appearance in which he performed as conductor, violinist, pianist, and harpsichordist. Also active in popular realms, he's conducted full orchestral video game concerts for Disney’s Kingdom Hearts and One Piece, and has also conducted for major acts, including Terrence Blanchard, The Winans, Brian McKnight, Hubert Laws, Colcannon, Al Jarreau and Ruben Studdard.
