Description
Welcome to the Otter Creek & Rio Grande. This channel documents the build of my "Freelanced" Otter Creek. The OC&RG is a "What if" railroad that did not exist in reality but could have under different circumstances.
The OC&RG is loosely based on the Colorado Midland Railway, specifically the 60 mile run between Leadville Colorado and Basalt Colorado which includes the branch line to Aspen Colorado. In Otter Creek world, the CM did not get off the ground and different investors got involved. The OC&RG was born as a Narrow Gauge railroad following the same route intended for the CM.
I haven't decided on a specific time frame or season yet, but I'm leaning heavily toward late spring during the late 1930's. I'm using 1/4" spline for the sub-roadbed between locations. Benchwork is mostly L-girder design with risers and other standard techniques. No scenery yet, but I'm hoping to get started in 2026 or sooner. *crosses fingers*
