Nandamuri Balakrishna fondly called as Balayya by his fans is born on June 10, 1960 in Madras (currently Chennai) to Mrs. N. Basava Tarakam and Legendary Telugu Film actor, Founder President of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and three term Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (famously known as NTR)

Balayya completed his elementary, high school and intermediate studies at little flower's high school in Hyderabad and earned Bachelor Of Arts (B.A) degree from Nizam College, Hyderabad.

Recognizing his talent, Balayya was introduced to acting at the age of 14 by his father, Shri NTR through a movie titled TATAMMA KALA, from their home production. Exceeding his father's expectations, Balayya delivered outstanding performance which earned Best Actor Award conferred to him by government of Andhra Pradesh.
