Description

My name is Ujjwal Rai, and I am an independent filmmaker based in Canberra.
I have created numerous music videos some of which gained significant success with view counts ranging from 2 to 11 million on YouTube.

I've won the People’s Choice Award in 2023 & 2024 at Lights Canberra Action sponsored by the University of Canberra.

Additionally, I've earned me Best Director awards at the Canberra Short Film Festival in November 2024. I’ve also been honoured with Best Film and Best Director awards at Trop Fest Canberra and an Honourable Mention at the What the Film Festival in 2024.

Recently, our suspense thriller short film "Don't Think Twice was selected as one of the top 12 finalists in the "Lights Canberra Actions" Short Film Festival 2025, and we also won the Best Cinematography Award 2025.

Moreover, I've been honoured with invitations to share my filmmaking journey and achievements on ABC Radio and 1RPH Radio in Canberra.
