Even the artistry of today's silk weavers is impressive.

Silk was also used as a form of arrow protection in China. They were so densely sown that it could prevent arrow penetration. They were worn under their armor.

It amazes me how artefacts like this can survive millenniums without degradation. Mind blowing the craftsmanship they had acquired...

I realize now , why Migration/Vendel era Norse people would cut up silk bits and reuse them for centuries

Today's experienced weaver. He should be humble, proud of his ancestors but not ashamed.

I wore a hand sewn silk suit in my twenties and it wore like iron.

Stunningly beautiful and the modern day craftsman admitting they couldn't reproduce it makes it even more impressive. Please be aware of the volume of the music with the narration. Not only does it make it difficult to hear, it makes it extremely unpleasant for many neurodiverse people.

Wasn't there a 'forbidden stitch?' A method that was allegedly so difficult as to make you blind? Or maybe I am thinking of embroidery. But upon reflection, they'd have almost certainly used the same method to embroidery the fine silk they'd made.

Also beautiful embroidery everywhere on it. Only the under cloth is woven... but WHAT fabulous structure !! Single-strand silk is almost invisible to naked eye. HOW many threads per mm??? Zounds !! 20 epi fine fine wool is intense enough. Boggled.
