Description
The Carpathian Press & Type Foundry and Carpathian Engineering
Who I am and what I do.
Born out of a school boy ambition to cast my own letterpress printing type, I run a small hobby type foundry using a Monotype Super Caster.
My passion is keeping letterpress alive by making new type and ornaments accessible to all.
I aim to offer small quantities of type and ornaments for sale to the hobby letterpress printer.
I operate on a small scale, and only when time allows. Indeed I feel able to proclaim that I have “probably the world’s smallest type foundry!”
I can also be found on Instagram at https://Instagram.com/the_carpathian_typ...
Out of necessity to keep my 1940’s typecasting machine running, I have equipped my workshop with engineering equipment, including a Myford Super 7 lathe, Seig SX1 mini mill and David Dowling pantograph engraver.
My interest in home engineering grows daily.

In India Supercaster was in use till early 1990, we had few of them, from 6 pt to 72 pt it was very efficient

Frankly, I haven't seen a super caster work so fast, even when casting narrow strip material.
