The idea that Bakshi didnt like fritz as a character and actively made his actions have consequences during the riot, and he made him less morally bad is wild to me and makes me appreciate the movie a little more

I think the best way to describe the feud, is crumb wrote a story about the man on the street from an apartment. While bakshi, was the man on the street he was writing about.

Crumb accusing Bakshi of being sexually repressed is absolutely HILARIOUS

I loved Bakshi's Version of Fritz, He was portrayed exactly as he acted. As a Sleazy, Pseudo intellectual constantly in way over his head. If anything Bakshi gave the character more justice than it really ever deserved.

Crumb only called Bakshi repressed because he didn’t want to animate a horse getting assaulted.

Bakshi was right; and the whole room laughing uncontrollably at fritz saying Ima bug out is as real as it gets. Idk what it is but when a no cultured person uses slang wrong in a sincere way its the funniest shit.

Th difference between Bakshi and Crumb’s depictions of black people is Crumb simply admires black artist and intrigued by black people, while bakshi actually lived around and understands black people. That’s why that Harlem bar scene in the movie is so good, because that’s how black people would actually respond to someone like Fritz in that type of situation in real life.

It's fascinating to me that Crumb was so deranged in his lust and other quirks that Bakshi had to temper Fritz just to make him remotely likable. It makes me appreciate Bakshi more that he cared about more than shocking people. That doesn't come across in the actual film.

I like how The Nine lives of Fritz the Cat is so irrelevant to Crumb and Bakshi it's not discussed much at all.

The fact Crumb admitted to raping a woman in one of his comics and didn't immediately lose his audience and overall respect from the public is so fucked.

Sounds like Bakashi wanted to work with Crumb on this movie but Crumb's own personality stopped that from happening and lead to both of them not liking ther other.

Crazy how Robert crumb admits to assault then calls Backshi sexually repressed. What a bastard

9:36 "being insecure in the most hypocritical and self-unaware way imaginable" fits most everything R. Crumb says and does like a glove.

Charles comics being overtaken by words, and eventually just scribbles, always gets me
