Assalamualaikum wrwb, I think it was definitely worth going to Japan and finding a new passion. You may not have had the best car or the best experience, but you found a new hobby that you're already somewhat skilled at. I'm sure you had a great time learning how to drift, and I hope you have a better time back in the states.
