I’ve been waiting on some of you to say “nice job,”
but I already know how people get — mad —
because you’re not used to someone respecting words the way they were meant to be respected.

Let me be clear.

The word “Negro” is not a shortcut.
It is not slang.
And it damn sure is not a substitute for the N-word.

When people use it like that, it’s disrespectful on the highest level —
not just to me, but to history, to language, and to the people who actually understand the weight of words.

I don’t play with that.

I carry this stance proudly, and I stand on it ten toes down.
And yes — I will distance myself from anyone who thinks it’s okay to twist a word into something ignorant and degrading.

This isn’t about being sensitive.
This is about respect.

If you don’t understand that,
then you don’t understand me —
and I’m perfectly fine with that.


But if you understand me good because that means it’s working.
