The Cage St Osyth

Description

Believed to be the former site of the famous town lockup in St Osyth, Essex. It is claimed the the Cage was used as a holding place for many accused of witchcraft during the Witch Trials of St Osyth of 1582, in particular Ursley Kempe (commonly known as Ursula Kemp). The Cage has since been reconstructed and is currently undergoing renovations and restoration.
