I'm not religious, but ST. PETER had a vision: God declared previously unclean meat clean[Acts 10:7-16] & ordered Peter to "kill & eat." Peter could have obeyed but didn't; knew his vision had another meaning; said, "Any animal which is slaughtered is defiled & its meat defiles" [the human spirit]. PAINFULLY TRUE.
