The Gone-Ton

Description

The Gone-Ton features shopping malls and sometimes other urbex-type content. In an era where experts expect a significant portion of all shopping malls will close in the foreseeable future, I hope to preserve these places in film so that their sights and sounds can live on forever.

My name is a reference to the defunct department store chain, The Bon-Ton. The Bon-Ton had a large store footprint in my local area, including as an anchor at both of my favorite malls growing up. When the chain went bankrupt in 2018, I was shocked. As a young person, I wasn't much of a department store shopper, but I had become so accustomed to seeing The Bon-Ton at those malls that something about going to the mall didn't feel the same anymore without that department store there. This got me interested in retail, the health of malls and department stores, and things like that.
