Welcome to BioTrekkie Explains! Dr. Mohamed Noor posts videos here explaining concepts from biology (mostly genetics and evolution) using examples from Star Trek. New videos are posted sporadically, but when posted, appear on Wednesdays at 10am Eastern USA time.
Dr. Noor published a book teaching science via Star Trek ("Live Long and Evolve"), and serves as a contracted science consultant for the Star Trek universe. He conducts research and teaches at Duke University. Dr. Noor has served as Dean of Natural Sciences at Duke University, chair of the Biology Department at Duke, president of the Society for the Study of Evolution and the American Genetic Association, and editor-in-chief of the scientific research journal Evolution.
