There are a lot of Highlights on Anthology 4 but I take issue with the number of Instrumentals and the number of outtakes we already had on prior box sets.

Part of the problem at least in the uk is that some people bought the full set of anthology1-4 and some just anthology 4 thus splitting the sales. In the uk update chart both entered

Anthology 4 is basically a superfluous album as the "new" tracks will eventually appear on the forthcoming deluxe boxsets.

Honestly I don’t put any stock in the charts there’s to many of them.. Secondly there has been a never ending glut of Beatles and solo material coming out pretty much at the same time. When moneys tight people have to pick and choose.. imo

If you combined the sales of Anthology 4, #9 in the UK and the Anthology Collection #29 it probably would have been number 1 in the UK.

I have to confess to being part of the problem. While I always intend to get every Beatles catalog album, I'm not always in a hurry to do so. Because of Christmas shopping and trying to knock down the credit card, it was a bad time to spend any extra money on myself.

Also, for the casual fan - which means the majority of people- they don’t want outtakes, backing tracks, or instrumentals. They want the studio track as officially released. I understand people taking a pass on a random collection of oddities. Personally, I enjoy many things on it, myself.

In Germany also #9, but on the rock charts #1. Buut the Anthology Collection that has been released seperately hit #2. In the US and UK the collection peaked lower than Anthology 4 tho.
