Welcome to the official channel for Heaviness in Metal Music Production (HIMMP), a pioneering research project that investigates the sonic, technical, and cultural dimensions of heaviness in metal music.

Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) under grant reference AH/T010991/1, this project ran from 1 September 2020 to 31 August 2024. It was hosted at the University of Huddersfield, UK, within the Schools of Arts and Humanities and Computing and Engineering, under the leadership of Dr Jan Herbst and Dr Mark Mynett.
