Description

Percussionist Simona Abdallah identifies herself as Palestinian-Danish based in Copenhagen. - Her parents fled from to Lebanon to Germany, where she was born in 1979. The family subsequently moved to Denmark in 1985, where Simona spent her childhood in Denmark’s second largest city, the windy port town of Aarhus.
 
Simona has been absorbed in music since she was 15. She plays percussion for many genres, but her main love is the darbouka, a goblet-shaped Arabic drum. She has toured in Africa, Asia, Europe, USA, and the Middle East as a solo and guest performer.

She is a rebel. The darbuka is considered a masculine instrument, and traditionally always played by men. Simona has broken through the traditional expectations to enjoy internationally acclaimed success.
