This is the Big Burb Build, where we took a 1979 Chevy K20 3/4-ton Suburban and dropped a 12V Cummins diesel engine into it from a 1997 Dodge 2500 truck to create the ultimate disaster vehicle.
If you’ve been following along, you know exactly what Big Burb has become: a 100% mechanical, EMP-proof beast. We completely stripped it of modern electronics—no solenoids, no computers, and zero grid dependency. It’s powered by that 12v Cummins and cranked by a completely custom, modified air starter. To handle it all, I boxed the frame from front to back, giving it the backbone of a 1.5-ton medium-duty tractor built to survive anything.
